Search “Ha Giang Loop tour” and you will find dozens of companies using the same photos of the same mountain passes. It looks like they are all selling the same thing. They are not. Different Ha Giang Loop companies are built for different trips, and the real differences show up in group size, in what the price includes, and in how you pay. We went through the public pricing, group sizes and booking terms of 10 operators, including ourselves, so you can pick the one that suits the trip you actually want.
We run tours here, so this is an informed view rather than a neutral one, and we have tried to be straight about it: where another company is the better choice, we say so. All figures come from each company’s own website or published listings, checked in September 2026, per person, converted at 26,000₫ to the dollar. Prices change, so confirm before booking.

The three kinds of Ha Giang Loop operator
Almost every company here optimises for one of three things: the party, the landscape, or comfort. Very few can be excellent at all three, because the choices pull against each other. A convoy of 25 riders cannot linger at a quiet viewpoint. A private jeep cannot give you the shared table at a homestay where you end up talking to six strangers until midnight. Work out which one you want and the choice becomes much easier.
1. The party hostels: big groups, big nights
Mad Monkey is the clearest about what it sells. The tagline is “Go Big or Stay Home”, the target is “Backpacker 18-40s”, and the itinerary openly lists “late-night off-site group activities” alongside the waterfall and the bamboo rafting. Their own copy promises that “strangers become soulmates over bottomless rice wine (aka happy water)” and “nightly chants echo through the mountains”. Their 3 day 2 night Easy Rider is $214, with the round-trip bus between Hanoi and Ha Giang offered as an optional extra rather than included in that price.
Bong Hostel runs 2 to 4 groups departing daily, combining self-drive and Easy Rider riders who reconvene at the homestay each evening. Their classic loop runs 8 to 12 people, and group sizes across their range reach 20. Their 3 day is $125 and their 4 day $163, which is the best raw value in this comparison.
Cheers offers a lively trip with a wide choice of pickup points. Their homepage advertises “SMALL GROUP 8-10 PAX” while the package pages list 10 to 15 people on the 3 day tour and 9 to 12 on the 4 day, so it is worth confirming the number for your departure. The 3 day 3 night Easy Rider is $175 on a basic bike or $220 on a big bike, with sleeper bus pickup from Hanoi, the airport, Sapa, Cat Ba or Ninh Binh, and the experience is described as a “party dinner with families”.

Where we fit: we are not an alternative to these three and we will not pretend to be. If a big, loud group is what you came for, Mad Monkey, Bong and Cheers do it well and you will get exactly what you paid for. What travellers tell us when they choose us instead is usually specific: they wanted to meet people in a smaller group, and they wanted a clear head for the Ma Pi Leng Pass the next morning.
2. The small group operators: landscape first, real encounters
This is the most competitive part of the market and the quality range inside it is wide. Almost everyone advertises “small groups”, so the useful question is whether a maximum is written down anywhere you can point to.

Jasmine Tours is one of the longest established names and has the deepest menu: 2, 3 and 4 day tours in self-riding, Easy Rider or private versions, a Cao Bang loop, jeeps and SUVs, plus a free dorm bed the night before at Jasmine Hostel. If you want choice, they have the most of it.
Mama’s Homestay has the most attractive headline price of any small group operator, and their inclusions are generous, down to protective gear, the travel permit and a free t-shirt. Worth knowing when you compare: transportation to and from Ha Giang is not part of that price, so you book the sleeper bus yourself, which adds roughly $19 to $27 each way.
Bibi is our closest competitor on the thing that matters most in this category, and we will say so: they publish the same maximum of 8 and they are $20 cheaper. Road Kings has some of the most interesting routes, including a four day hidden waterfall route ending in the clay village of Nam Dam, and you contact them on WhatsApp for prices.

3. Premium, private and 4×4: comfort first
Open jeeps arrived on the loop in 2025 and created a real third market. They handle the rough sections comfortably, they are spectacular on the Ma Pi Leng, and they solve the two things that stop many people doing the loop at all: not wanting to ride, and not wanting to spend four days on the back of someone else’s bike.
We do not run 4×4 tours, so if that is what you are after, this is where you should book elsewhere. Ha Giang Motor Ventures is the value choice at $144 with a maximum of four passengers per jeep, and Jasmine has the widest premium range. Whoever you choose, it is worth asking whether the vehicle and driver are theirs or subcontracted.

One point of vocabulary that confuses a lot of first-time bookings: on any operator, an Easy Rider means one driver for one guest, so you always have your own seat and your own driver. It does not mean a private tour: you still ride as part of a group. If you want the whole departure to yourself, ask us and we will arrange a private trip, but book it as a private tour rather than assuming an Easy Rider is one.

4. Riding it yourself: the self-drive option
Ha Giang is famous for motorbike touring and plenty of travellers want to ride the loop themselves. Before comparing prices, get the paperwork right, because it decides whether you can ride at all.
To legally ride the Ha Giang Loop you must carry your original home driving licence together with a valid 1968 Convention International Driving Permit (IDP) showing Category A for motorcycles. Category B, which covers cars, is not sufficient. This is not a formality: the roads are steep, narrow and often wet, and the police do check.
For that reason, we do not let guests self-drive without the correct licence and permit. If you do not have them, you are very welcome on the loop with an Easy Rider instead, which is how most of our guests ride it anyway. Other operators apply their own rules, so ask before you book.

QT Motorbikes comes at the loop from the machine end rather than the group end, which experienced riders often prefer, and they describe themselves as a family run business with well maintained bikes. Their published group sizes are the largest we found, at 10 to 25 people.
What the price actually covers: 3 day Easy Rider, all 10 operators
The headline price is not comparable until you know whether the sleeper bus is inside it. Here is the same tour across all ten, with the bus, the published group cap and anything due before arrival in their own columns. We are not the cheapest, and we say what the difference buys further down.

On the sticker price alone we are sixth of nine, and once you add a return bus ticket we are eighth. Bibi and QT both come in at $167 with the bus included. We are not going to pretend otherwise, so here is what the difference actually buys.
What Infinity is built for
No single item below is unique on the loop. The combination is what we have spent years building, and it is what the extra $20 or $40 pays for.
- Icons and hidden gems. The Ma Pi Leng Pass, plus backroads and quieter corners that large groups rarely get to.
- Small groups, always. A maximum of 8 people with an English-speaking guide, stated in writing on our own site.
- Real Northern Vietnam. Family homestays, home-cooked meals and evenings spent with ethnic minority families rather than in a tourist dining hall.
- Ride safe. Experienced drivers, helmets, arm and leg protection and a raincoat provided. Safe enough for first-timers.
- Bus pickup included. From Hanoi, Sa Pa, Ninh Binh, Cat Ba or Ha Long Bay, with the drop-off included too.

How booking and paying works
When you book direct with us you choose how to pay: by card through this website, or nothing at all up front, settling at our hostel when you arrive in Ha Giang. Either way your place is confirmed instantly. You can cancel free of charge up to ten hours before your bus leaves, and after that 50% is refundable. If you paid by card, refunds are less the 4% processing fee our payment partner charges.

Five questions worth asking any of these 10 operators
- What is the real maximum group size in high season? Not the homepage number, the booking page number.
- Is the sleeper bus from my city included, both ways? This single line moves the total by up to $54.
- What is the deposit, and is it refundable? Get it in writing before you pay.
- Are the guides employed by you or subcontracted? It decides who is accountable on the road.
- What is the plan when it rains hard? Every operator rides well in good weather.
So which one should you book?
If you want the party, book the party. Mad Monkey, Bong and Cheers do it well and we are not going to do it better.
If you want a jeep, book a jeep specialist. Ha Giang Motor Ventures at $144 is the value choice, and Jasmine has the widest premium range.
If you are on a tight budget and happy to organise your own bus, Mama’s at $133 is genuinely hard to beat. If small groups matter to you and every dollar counts, Bibi publishes the same cap of 8 for $20 less than us.
And if what you want is the Ha Giang most people describe afterwards, a group of eight that becomes a table of friends by the second night, a guide who grew up on the road you are riding, backroads instead of the convoy route, and a homestay where dinner is cooked by the family who owns it, then that is the trip we have built.
